FB page!

I know I haven't written in a while, but I just wanted to share that I've gone viral - on FB that is!

Be sure to like my page, I'll probably be updating it more than I update my blog (because it's easier!)

We go together 5k

Hey everyone, sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been on a slight running hiatus due to an injury.
I was able to do my Jost Running virtual 5k run for February -- We go Together -- last night and my medals came today!!

Let me start off by saying these medals are ADORABLE! Jost Running always has unique ideas for their medals, but I think this one is by far the cutest and most original.  My youngest 2 kids love bacon & eggs so I could be a bit partial ;)   Anyway, their original ideas, along with the size, detail & quality of their medals, the amount of glitter on the medals, printed ribbon, personalized bibs, and friendly hosts, they really stand out above the rest!

I know you're all dying to see these medals I'm raving so much about so here they are....

Cute, right?!

So now let's get to my run.
I pinned my cute personalized bib proudly on my shirt (I don't mind the weird looks from others at the gym, they probably all wish they could be as cool as me!) and headed to the gym to use the dreaded treadmill.  I love that my number was 22... that is a special number to me and also happens to be the first 2 numbers in my Princess Glass Slipper Challenge bib number =)
I hit the treadmill & finished in 35:08. That's a tad slow for me, but like I said, I'm nursing an injury so I had to take things a little slower than normal.

Today, very conveniently, my beautiful medals arrived in the mail. More stunning in person than in the picture, if that's even possible. Since I earned my 5k medal last night, I put that on right away, I just couldn't wait to show it off!!

It's a salt & pepper shaker with glittery pepper & salt spilling out of them and "We go together" in PINK glitter (I love me some pink!!) with a matching pink ribbon.  And it's funny because I have a ton of Jost Running medals, but I just just noticed that they use a different font for the month & year on each of their ribbons  (the Jost Running part of the ribbon is always the same font), which is a nice touch!

These 2 medals will definitely make a great addition to my medal collection

I can't wait to earn the half marathon one with the plate of eggs, bacon & bread! Maybe I'll even celebrate by having bacon & eggs after my run ;)

Ringing in the new year!

I ran my first run of the new year today to earn my "In with the New Year" 5k medal from Jost Running. It had to be inside on the treadmill because we got 2 feet of snow last night (how dare mother nature! lol).
Whenever I run on the treadmill, I tend to run slower than when i do outside, I guess I'm better at pacing myself than keeping up with the steady treadmill pace. Anyway, I decided to try to push myself a little bit and see how fast I could go on the treadmill and I ended up getting my best 'treadmill pace' to date! Woo hoo, what a great way to start off the new year, especially since I had to take a week off last week due to the holiday (scheduling conflicts) and then a horrible cold.

So anyway, I did my run on the treadmill today at the gym and when I got home there was a package waiting for me with 2 shiny medals!  So not only did I do my run today, but my medal arrived, too, and I got to put it right on!

My favorite is the 5k/10k medal (on the right) - the design of it is really unique with the crescent (glitter) moon and stars. And I like the silver, gold & black color  combination of both of them - very festive for a new year celebration!
the 5k/10k medal measures 3x3 inches. The 1/2 and full marathon one is 3.5x3.5 inches, aprox. And as the usual with Jost Running's medals, the ribbons are personalized as well.

After taking my picture with my newly earned medal, it went right onto my medal rack with the rest of my Jost Running medals - that section on my medal rack is always the most sparkly & shiny - there's so much glitter on these HUGE medals you need glasses to look at them. lol

I'll be earning the 1/2 marathon distance one soon! Don't forget to check back in a week or so & I'll post the results from the website to see where I stand against the competition

If the shoe fits...RUN! She Devil

I ran my first run of the new year today. It had to be inside on the treadmill because we got 2 feet of snow last night. I decided to go faster than I normally go on the treadmill and I got my best treadmill pace to date! WOO!

If the shoe fits...RUN! Sea Witch

After taking a week off from running due to the holiday and then getting sick, I hopped on the treadmill today for my last run in 2013.
I ran 3 miles making my total miles for 2013 - 471 miles!! That includes 13 races (5ks, 10ks, 8 miler, 5 miler)

I earned the If the shoe fits... RUN! Sea Witch medal for my run today. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be after taking a week off.

Running Au-some

I am sad to say that I haven't run in exactly 1 week. If you know me, you know I'm not one to slack, so let me explain myself.
Normally I run Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday. Last Tuesday was Christmas Eve and I would not have the time to fit a run in, and I haven't missed a run since Tink training began, so I decided to give myself a pass & skip that run 'just this one time'.  But then on Christmas day I came down with an awful cold. And I was unable to get my Thursday run in. This cold has kicked my butt!
But I woke up feeling somewhat better today so I decided to give it a try. I knew it was going to be rough but it was just plain awful. I'm still so stuffed up that I could barely breathe and had to keep stopping to walk. My overall pace was 12:30 a minute. My normal pace is 10:30-11 a minute so that 12:30 pace really hurt! Plus, I gave up after about 2 miles, there was no way I was making it to 4 miles. My body was telling me it just wasn't ready to get back out there yet.
I will try again on Tuesday.

However, I did earn this cute little Running Au-some surfboard medal. I love hibiscus flowers (even have a tattoo of them on my back). So even though it was a rough run, I still earned some cute bling.
And yes... the picture of me is all bundled up in my bathrobe and blanket after my run. that's the best picture I could get right now. lol
